How to Create a QR Code

Creating a QR code is simple and takes just seconds. Choose your content type, enter your details, and the QR code generates instantly in your browser. You can customize colors to match your brand and download as a high-resolution PNG image.

QR codes (Quick Response codes) are two-dimensional barcodes that store information in a pattern of black and white squares. When scanned with a smartphone camera, they instantly decode to reveal the stored content.

Creating a Business Card QR Code

The vCard type lets you create a digital business card that adds your contact details directly to someone's phone when scanned. Include your name, title, company, phone, email, and website. When someone scans the QR code, their phone will prompt them to save your contact — no typing required.

URL Safety Preview

When entering a URL, QR Forge shows you a parsed breakdown of the link including the protocol, domain, and path. This helps you verify the exact destination before generating the code. Look for HTTPS protocol and recognizable domains.

Understanding Error Correction

QR codes include built-in error correction. The four levels are Low (7%), Medium (15%), Quartile (25%), and High (30%). Higher correction creates a denser code but makes it more resilient. Use High if you plan to add a logo overlay.

International Phone Numbers

When creating phone or SMS QR codes, always include the full international dialing code (e.g., +1 for US, +44 for UK, +91 for India). This ensures the QR code works when scanned from any country.

Best Practices

Always test your QR code before printing. Ensure sufficient contrast between foreground and background — dark on light works best. A minimum of 2cm x 2cm is recommended for print. Leave a quiet zone (white border) around the code.
